Privacy Policy
Effective date: 2026-06-02 Last updated: 2026-06-02
KnowCard ("KnowCard", "we", "us") is operated by 9537-9566 Québec Inc., a company registered in Québec, Canada (the "Company"). This Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect through the KnowCard mobile application (the "App"), how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices you have.
By creating an account or using the App, you agree to this Privacy Policy.
1. Who is responsible for your information
The Company is responsible for the personal information processed through the App.
Person in charge of the protection of personal information (Québec Law 25): Jiajia Fu — dev@fstechnologies.ai
For any privacy question or request, contact us at dev@fstechnologies.ai.
2. Information we collect
We collect only what we need to run the App and your account.
a) Account information
- Email address and password (passwords are stored only in hashed form by our authentication provider).
- If you sign in with Apple, we receive the identifier Apple provides and the email you choose to share (which may be a private relay address from Apple).
b) Learning activity
- The fields and topics you choose to study.
- Your per-card progress (for example, cards you have viewed, marked as known, favourited, or hidden).
- Feedback you choose to submit on a card.
c) Subscription and purchase information
- Your subscription status, plan (for example, free, Pro, or Pro+AI), and purchase history (which subscriptions you have started, renewed, or cancelled).
- Purchases are processed by the Apple App Store or Google Play and managed through our subscription provider (RevenueCat). To operate subscriptions, RevenueCat processes your purchase history together with a device identifier and your account identifier. We do not receive or store your full payment card number — that stays with Apple or Google.
d) AI explanations (Pro+AI feature only)
- When you request an AI-generated explanation of a card, the card identifier and the type of explanation requested are sent to our server and to our AI provider to generate the response. We cache generated explanations to speed up repeat views. We do not send your account email to the AI provider for this purpose.
e) Technical and device information
- A device-level session token stored on your device to keep you signed in securely.
- Information collected automatically when the App connects to our services or our providers' services, such as IP address, device type and operating system, app version, and basic server logs. This is used to operate, secure, and debug the service.
- The App stores some content on your device (local cache) so it can work offline and load faster.
f) Notifications
- If you enable notifications, the App may send you study reminders. You can turn notifications off at any time in your device settings.
What we do NOT do
- We do not use third-party advertising SDKs, and we do not track you across other apps or websites.
- We do not use third-party behavioural-analytics SDKs in the App. (Our subscription provider processes the limited purchase and device data described in section 2(c) to operate subscriptions.)
- We do not sell your personal information.
3. How we use your information
We use your information to:
- Create and secure your account and authenticate you.
- Provide the core learning experience and remember your progress and preferences.
- Provide and manage subscriptions and entitlements (Pro / Pro+AI).
- Generate AI explanations when you request them (Pro+AI).
- Respond to your feedback and support requests.
- Maintain, debug, and improve the App, and comply with legal obligations.
We rely on your consent (which you give by creating an account and using the App) and on the necessity of processing to provide the service you request.
4. Who we share information with (service providers)
We share information only with service providers ("sub-processors") that help us operate the App, under contracts that require them to protect your data:
| Provider | Purpose |
|---|---|
| Supabase | Database, authentication, and backend hosting (stores your account and learning data) |
| RevenueCat | Subscription management |
| Apple App Store / Google Play | App distribution and payment processing for purchases |
| Anthropic | AI provider that generates explanations for the Pro+AI feature |
These providers may store or process data on infrastructure located outside Québec, including in the United States. We take reasonable steps to ensure your information receives an adequate level of protection.
We may also disclose information if required by law, to enforce our terms, or to protect the rights, safety, and security of our users or the Company.
5. Data retention
We keep your personal information for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we delete or anonymize your personal information within a reasonable period, except where we must retain certain records to comply with legal, accounting, or security obligations. Residual copies may remain in backups for a limited time before being overwritten.
6. Your rights and choices
Depending on where you live (including under Québec's Law 25 and Canada's PIPEDA), you may have the right to:
- Access the personal information we hold about you;
- Correct inaccurate information;
- Withdraw consent and delete your account and associated personal information;
- Request portability of certain information.
Deleting your account: You can delete your account and its data from within the App (Settings), or by emailing dev@fstechnologies.ai. We will action verified requests within the timelines required by applicable law.
United States (including California): We do not sell your personal information and we do not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising. California residents may request access to, or deletion of, their personal information, and will not be discriminated against for exercising these rights.
To exercise any right, contact dev@fstechnologies.ai.
7. Security
We use industry-standard measures to protect your information, including encrypted connections (HTTPS), hashed passwords, and access controls on our backend. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to protect your information and to notify you and the appropriate authorities of a breach where required by law.
8. Children's privacy
KnowCard is intended for adult learners and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children below the age of digital consent in their jurisdiction. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated version with a new "Last updated" date and, where required, notify you in the App.
